The law of the Aztecs says that you have to obey the gods and make regular offerings. There are no prisons, only heavy wooden cages that prisoners are stored in before they are due to be sacrificed. Punishments were often cruel and quick, but people believe that evil acts and their punishment are a matter of fate, That they are born to live like that. Stealing is usually punished by giving back three times the amount that was stolen. But stealing is very rare because people all believe in helping each other as they are all members are the same tribe. If there is someone seriously injured, they are often killed as they are no longer a use to the tribe. Criminals that are convicted by the high court, (a court made up of the more ‘important’ people in the tribes) are killed immediately by drowning or skinning. The most disgraceful crime is to run away in battle, he is not sacrificed, cremated or buried but thrown into a swamp. In the case of a murder, it is said not be the murderers fault, just his fate that the gods set for him, the murderers are taken to the temples and sacrificed to the gods.

The empire is bound together by force, each colony is made to pay a certain amount of tribute, this way the empire is able to survive.

The children are expected to work from a young age. They are severely punished if they are lazy.
